The recent bad weather here made me appreciate the chickadee more, hope you like them too!

Nice series, I like the 3rd one with his head all tweak around like he is trying to figure out what is going on with you. Kind of like a dog that tilts its head when you make a weird noise.

I think you're starting something here Jo: 'post your reflection in the bird's eye'
Great close up detail with these little fellas :)

The shots are very good Jo, with great poses, perches, backgrounds and detail. A pity about the blown whites though. But still, good shots.

Thanks Mark :). I'm in a funk right now, just love to see something in the eye but I know that this leads to having to crop it too tight hence composition is lost.

Thanks Levina, I actually toot some time in pp and try to lower the exposure on the whites so its not washed out but was not able to do it. Chic's a hard subject to expose because it has a black and white :) But the chic's hand out here often so plenty of time to practice :)

Always enjoy the chickadees and especially the uniqueness of the third image... very nice.

You've found a real winner in that 3rd capture jodelak! Love the tilt like everyone else, but really love the background on that one and the 4th.
It may just be me, but the first 2 captures look a little "hot" to my eyes and on my monitor. Especially noticeable in the 1st capture. Maybe you were compensating for lack of sun....I know I would - :)

The 3rd image gets most of my attention...the whites will do it to you every time though...I find spot metering and manually exposing works well.especially in conjunction with the higlites alert on the lcd ..it forces you to constantly be thinking about the changing light and lets you compromise with the DOF, SS and ISO and after some practice you will have a pretty good idea from the meter how your image is going to expose...just a thought...

Thank you veyr much for your comments Gary. I sometimes forget how to properly expose the subject because I am too worried that I might not get the shot. But I really need to get that ISO, SS and Aperture setup nailed.

You captured some great poses there Joe and as has been said, the third takes the prize.
