After buying the SD card below (See link) My friend told me that it is NOT and will not be compatible with the 5DIII. I want to make sure this is absolutely correct before I return it.

I REALLY don't want to have to spend $300 for the "right" card. This is what the Manual says: "Recording Media: CF Card (Type 1, UDMA mode 7-compatible), SD Memory card, SDHC memory card, SDXC memory card." So what is the right card to take advantage of the 6-FPS continuous shooting mode? ---------------

The camera however (at least at present) can't take advantage of some of the hardware features of a UHS104 spec card. The performance of the card is optimized when paired with a UHS-I compatible device, which the Canon 5DIII is not. The UHS spec for instance supports 3D.

I bet they would have been willing to go until later this year if it wasn't for Nikon.

How long have both formats been around already? The HD I purchased last year was $100 and has USB 3.0... ![]() ![]() I fail to see any reason for having a USB3 port on a camera. I am quite happy to take the media out of the camera and read it on my USB3 media card reader. Unless canon disconnects the port and the card interface from the rest of the camera, it takes power to read. Why do I want to have to drag my camera back to the computer office to process what is shot? Cards are easier to transport and store until the project is finished and archived out. My Flickr

Nikon did it for a cheaper price. Regardless if you need it or not, Canon has obviously chosen to keep 5D users out of the advancement loop. Like a kid being bugged to clean his room before going out to play. He's going to do the bare minimum to appease Mom enough to get what he wants.
