seeing these threads about broken USB connectors on cameras has me wanting to pick up a card reader. What's a decent one? USB connectivity would suffice. I don't need speed, I'm retired and have lots of time to download photos.

I use a Transcend one I picked up at B&H, not one single problem and it gets used a lot.

Don't think so, I'd like to read them into my IMac. I know it has USB, not sure which one. I just need something simple that works.

Yea I dont think any of the Apples have USB 3 yet. Hell, they still dont have blu-ray drives yet! They are going the Thunderbolt route. Not sure what to tell you about a USB 2 reader though. I made the jump to a 3 a couple months ago and its been awesome. Ridiculously faster than my 2 was.

I use this one:

Works great for me. It goes on sale sometimes (I think I got it around $10, rather than the $13 it is listed at now), to save a few bucks.

I just bought a new Lexar USB 3.0 reader. It has slots for both CF and SD cards. Works great for me.

I ordered that one about an hour ago. Looked good. Thanks!
