So, the point of the test was to see if it would switch AF points without switching to a different target. Tracking sensitivity is for whether it switches targets or not, so I set it to its lowest setting. I moved the camera around and put closer objects into the frame, and it stayed with the original target. I did not try to obstruct the original target, as it'll eventually switch, just slower than at a higher sensitivity, as I understand it.

got it -- i reread the settings and it makes total sense... i just didnt have my 5d3 in front of me to look

Read the review I put up a few posts earlier than yours. He discusses that as well. GH2 is amazing for the price and is the best value for video on the market. It is superior to the 5D III in straight up video quality, but overall the 5D III is better.

Yeah, I agree, Bloom's is the better review. The Premier software he is talking about, that's Mac only right?

It's Adobe Premier, which is Mac/Windows.

There are three parameters you can set to tell it how to track. There are six sets (use cases) you can adjust and select one case as the active one.

The three params are tracking sensitivity, accel/decel tracking, and AF pt auto switching.

I haven't played with them much but reviews/previews have covered it fairly well.

I did set tracking sensitivity to minus (lowest), AF pt auto switching to 2 (highest), focused on something, then moved the camera around, and it stayed with the initial target and switched AF points until the object was no longer covered by an AF point.

That's HOW, but I'm interested in WHAT. With several objects milling around in front of the camera, say several kids playing ball, how do you set the camera off on the correct target, the kid you want to track.?

If it works like the 7D, you select the starting AF point just like you would select a single AF point. The difference is that if the camera sees that the subject in focus is moving then it will "hand off" focusing responsibility to the the AF point in that direction. I think the newer 1 series cameras do this as well.

On the older 1 series cameras, the ring of fire would always start with the center point and then do the hand off thing.

What is maximum capacity of CF & SD card 5D3 support so far? Is 128G ok or not?

I hated the 50mm f/1.4 as well. It was useless under f/2.8, and even not even sharp then. It also plagued with stuck focus a lot too. Interesting it works a lot better on the 5D III though.

Please note that the focus is on the hair next to the ear. Not that soft (as per my low standards )
I am looking forward to using this lens on 5D mark III some time soon.

I can't wait to get mine. This whole thread is awesome. The pictures, even at high ISO are superb. I just wish Lightroom 4 was ready for the RAW files to be read directly from the card. Wonder when they'll have that figured out and corrected?

It's working for me, I have a UHS-1 & a CF. I wasn't sure prior to getting it, but I took a chance and it does work. I would been shocked if it didn't. But then again they don't even support USB 3 so anything is possible.

LR4 releasing coming this week for performance problems and other bugs. No word if it will have 5D III support, but I suspect it will.
