lightroom users... is everyone finding 4.1 useable for the 5d miii?

Absolutely. The best raw converter for it currently in my opinion.

Wow. What noise reduction technique or program did you use if you don't mind?

That shot is amazing given the settings. I would also like to know the PP process if you are willing to share.

One glitch is that you can't upload directly to Flickr anymore, but they know it and are ironing it out. Otherwise great.

This is another with the 2X on the 70-200

I wouldn't expect it to focus faster. The battery is the same as what is in the 5d2 and 7d so the lens won't be getting more power. A 1d series will likely be required for quicker focusing.

This.

The lens will not physically focus any more quickly than it does using a 5D2. However, consensus seems to be that since the camera locks more quickly and more accurately, that focusing speed is improved.

Speed is excellent, but I worry more about accuracy. This camera seems to have gotten both very right.

Regarding AF.

Today I did a little testing of birds in fligth and I am impressed. I have a 1D3 also and with that with my 400 mm f/5.6L I have always had problems getting good results mainly due to my own pano technique and that I have never really found the golden settings for the af system for shooting birds in fligth.

With 5D3 I put it in AF case 5 and autoselect of all focus points. I got a burst of 11 shots where every single shot is in focus. Granted the focus system was helped along by a blue skye as background. But I never got this good a result with any other camera.

It is true the Voltage is the reason the d series focusses so fast. Canon event states this as a fact. Never expect a small battery to power a focus system as fast using these little batteries. With a grip the voltage doesn't increase either, it will first balance the level of the batteries by using one until they are even then it will draw from both equally.

Having used medium format film cameras for 30 years, I was stunned in 2007 when I realized that the digital camera/software post processing combo had blown past film.
Now with the advent of the 5D Mark 3 it seems that if you visualize it, the camera can record it.
Follow the link to see how the AF nailed the focus in spite of blinding back light.

It seems that way to me in my use of the 5D3. I feel like I have to do much less color/tint adjustments to get the skin tones I like.
