A great camera does not make a great photo.A photographer does.
A great photographer doesnt need a advanced digital camera as well, so your point is moot.

There's no reason not to be patient with a $3,500 purchase. Anthony | Flickr

Seems pretty good to me. Even so, there are just so many unknowns. What lens was this shot with? (Seems like 24-105L based off of EXIF.) Was it straight to JPEG? If so, what are the picture settings at? Until a site like dpreview comes out with a detailed analysis, or the floodgates open and no one is getting sharp photos out of this camera, I am not going to run around like my hair is on fire. http://www.flickr.com …7170/in/pool-1709137@N23/ LOL its really no big deal for me either way. Im just disappointed from seeing the samples so far. If im proven wrong... well cool Ill buy it. But if its true and the camera does produce soft files... I will be disappointed and keep using what I got... center point and all lol.

I dont think you should blame the photographer now lol. I was looking at that guy's pictures this morning with deepening gloom.

I like the overall look of the pictures though. I've cancelled my D800 order because It was too close to shipping for comfort but left the 5D3 on order as it was placed on the 4th and will miss the first batch. Hope I did the right thing. I suspect you did the right thing. I remember when the 7D came out there were many folks who said it wasn't capable of making sharp pics...etc etc. It turns out that it was perfectly capable of making sharp pics. Growing old disgracefully!

navydoc Cream of the Crop More info | This is an image previously labled as "SOFT". I respectfully disagree. The image was shot at f2 at a focal length of 135mm. The lobster appears to be the main focus and looks fine to me. You can even see the drops of water below in focus...although a bit blurred due to motion.
