A great camera does not make a great photo.A photographer does.

A great photographer doesnt need a advanced digital camera as well, so your point is moot.

I have yet to deal with any focusing system that was difficult to master in 5 minutes. Im sticking with my point, please some one show me a damn sharp picture with this camera! I want to buy one, Ive got the money... Just show me!

There's no reason not to be patient with a $3,500 purchase. :)

What do you think of this shot? Seems pretty good to me. Even so, there are just so many unknowns. What lens was this shot with? (Seems like 24-105L based off of EXIF.) Was it straight to JPEG? If so, what are the picture settings at? Until a site like dpreview comes out with a detailed analysis, or the floodgates open and no one is getting sharp photos out of this camera, I am not going to run around like my hair is on fire.

LOL its really no big deal for me either way. Im just disappointed from seeing the samples so far. If im proven wrong... well cool Ill buy it. But if its true and the camera does produce soft files... I will be disappointed and keep using what I got... center point and all lol.

Hey ChinaVol,

Since you have both 1DIV and 5DIII, which one do you like better? Other than 5DIII's impressive high ISO performance, how do you like the AF (just in general) when compared to 1DIV? I absolutely love the AF on my 1DIV, but not so much on 5DII (except center point focus). I'm curious to hear an AF experience from a real user with both cameras. Thanks!

Here you go @f/4 iso 200 1/400 sec.... http://www.flickr.com …5465/in/pool-1709137@N23/ (external link)

Look at original size... blurred to hell and back.
I dont think you should blame the photographer now lol.

I was looking at that guy's pictures this morning with deepening gloom.
I like the overall look of the pictures though.

I've cancelled my D800 order because It was too close to shipping for comfort but left the 5D3 on order as it was placed on the 4th and will miss the first batch.

Hope I did the right thing.

I suspect you did the right thing. I remember when the 7D came out there were many folks who said it wasn't capable of making sharp pics...etc etc. It turns out that it was perfectly capable of making sharp pics.

Now we have the 5D with no-one sure about what internal settings are in use to pull out the jpegs we're seeing, or unprocessed raws...or whatever. Unless there is something totally screwed up at Canon I have no doubt that this new camera will be perfectly capable of making sharp pics.

With the results we've seen at high ISOs I am impressed....and I expect that once people actually try the maching with good glass and logical settings and the correct workflow they will find that it does fine. I can't see any logical reason why it wouldn't!

Growing old disgracefully!

Thanks for your reassurance Ricardo, I appreciate it.

By the way, the capitalization in my post was produced by my iPad rather than deification. The D800 may be good ... but not that good!

This is an image previously labled as "SOFT". I respectfully disagree. The image was shot at f2 at a focal length of 135mm. The lobster appears to be the main focus and looks fine to me. You can even see the drops of water below in focus...although a bit blurred due to motion.

I can't wait for this camera to come out already so people will just stop trying to bash this camera in every way possible.

I bet you any money once that camera is in my hand I will deliver an eye-bleeding razor sharp picture for all to see! Just watch. :p
