Seems like people that are really eager to get the camera (and placed multiple preorders to do so) would be better off just going to a local camera shop and getting one. They would have gotten it days quicker.

They could have even ordered it from a 'local' shop in a different state if they wanted to avoid tax and still get it sooner. The big retailers seem to be the slow-boat options in this case.

Just sayin.

Apparently somebody is successfully at removing 5d3 vertical banding with pp... pretty interesting...
http://forums.dpreview.com …32&thread=40955803&page=1 (external link)

yea, looks like he used nik dfine. I wonder why people havent used it already for the 5d2... unless there was too much banding, or a mixture of horizontal AND vertical banding? seems like 5d3 only suffers from vertical...

I can't wait for this camera to come out already so people will just stop trying to bash this camera in every way possible.

I bet you any money once that camera is in my hand I will deliver an eye-bleeding razor sharp picture for all to see! Just watch. :p

That's what I was saying...you just said it better! (And a little more forcefully!):D

Reading this thread is like watching the ball go back and forth in a tennis match. Only the tennis is fun to watch.

P.S. I will have my hands on a 5DIII Wednesday night. ;)

just a few of my thoughts...

Oh I will, don't you worry! :D

I have no doubt in my mind this will be an amazing camera. I am not being a fan-boy or anything of the sort. I just know Canon is going to deliver a high quality, capable body.

I don't care if it bands if I push the shadows 800%... I don't care if I see some noise at ISO 25,600... I don't care if I can't dunk my camera under water for a minute and have it work just fine afterward....

I hope the Nikon people LOVE the D800... I really do... But I really hope everybody loves the 5DIII as well. Enjoy them for what they are. If the price/features/etc... don't jive well with you, go elsewhere.

I am just suck of the bashing, no matter what topic you go into. You get the same jibroni's coming into every topic complaining about the same things over and over. It is getting SO old. I realize this is a forum, but there is no need to sound like broken records constantly. You made your points, now move on!

I can't WAIT to get this bad boy in my hands. Pop that pre-charged LP-E6 into it and slap my 70-200 II on and go find mundane objects to take pictures of. Then wander in my basement, shut all the lights off and try to AF on something in complete darkness... You know, all the fun stuff :D

The 5D3 has what myself and many others have wanted for a long time... Bring on the limited dynamic range, banding and soft JPEG's!! I can't wait to prove them all wrong, or right. Either or, as long as I love the camera I don't care. I have been waiting for it for a long time. :D

the problem is canon CAN track and punish B&H/adorama/amazon easily, but all the little guys are too hard to keep tabs on.

Same here. I'm going to take pictures of dust balls under my bed. i'll blow on them and try to use AF-servo to capture some 25600 ISO frames. yeehawww.

Pre ordered mine :) Very excited. It will be a much appreciated upgrade from the T2i!
Does anyone happen to have any idea when the shipment will arive in Ontario/Canada ? I've never done this before so its new to me. I don't know how long these things typically take..

What part of Ontario Canada will have a big influence on when it will likely be arriving. If you are in the GTA, then most likely your order will be in on the 22nd. If you are living in Kashechewan up near the nunuvit boarder, then I'd say you are waiting for a bit to come.

I am starting to wonder if this is the new Canon 'look'. The great majority of the photos I have seen don't appear 'soft' , 'blurry' OR 'out of focus' to my eyes. They appear 'smooth' (that is to say film-like as opposed to picture-like). I am not arguing for or against (nor trying to get caught up in somantics)

The first indication for me was when someone posted the 5Diii vs 5Dii crayon pics. The ii was more detailed yet noisy/grainy the iii was 'smoother' and did not appear as 'sharp' - The 5Diii still produced a more appealing picture to my eyes even though they did not appear as 'sharp' which surprised me a little.

It may be early to tell yet but don't be too surprised if the smoothness is a reduced noise/high iso compromise at the sensor level. (kinda like the 50mm 1.2 if you see the relation - 135mm soft focus as an extreme example).

Again I am not saying it is good or bad (very personal preference for each individual) just something I have noticed and wondered if anyone else is getting the same impression.

edit: maybe more film-like than digital-like even (srry wish I could articulate that better)
