Old barn at day break. Shot just after sunrise, the barn and fence was still in full shade. Everything was still wet from the early morning dew, which really pulled out the rust reds.

Love that shot. It's so simple. And it looks delicious on top of that! :p

i'm still on the edge of getting rid of this camera and downgrading to the 5D2 with a couple L primes.. or i can just take the plunge and be a patient person and save up lol.

I think i might do that. I had to sell my 135L a couple days ago to fund finances for a trip to TX that i leave tomorrow. Gf was a bit concerned that we wouldn't have enough cash to "hang" out with everyone so i went ahead and took one for the team. sighs lol. but! gives me an excuse to either buy a 50 1.2L next friday or a sigma 85 1.4 :).

Haha youre going to get sick of me LOL The 5D II IMHO works well with you and would more with L lenses, 1 or 2 primes to start. Prices are insane for the 5D II's. I can't see the III staying at that price forever and when it does go down significantly I will get it and hopefully it will be around 500.00 or so but maybe I'm just a daydreamer LOL.

In May we have a airshow here in NY and if the 5D II fails for me you better believe it's going up for sale but I went to shoot Geese the other day and was very happy with the shots that I got but results will tell.

disclaimer: I'm not knocking the 5D III it's on my to get list just not in my budget right now....

You kidding? That's awesome.

Are you the one drinking the wine tonight? Perhaps some Jameson? Lol

Thank you.

I'm humbled by the compliments. Especially when it comes from you, Nate, Monday, etc. It's the pictures/advise you guys take/give along with others on this board that make me strive to become better. Yeah, I get compliments from friends, kids, girlfriend, etc, but honestly deep down it doesn't mean ****, until the people you look up to have something positive to say.

I think my biggest problems are composition, PP, and what my niche is. In the past, my problem has been to over PP. I sometimes just can't stop. My past pictures have to much contrast and seem over saturated. It's funny I was in Madison WI over the weekend and took almost a thousand pics. I've noticed that a lot of RAW's right out of the camera look very "contrasty" and over saturated without even PP . At times I feel they look as if I over PP them. Thus the B/W pic. All I did was change it to B/W and add a little sharpening. Though the more I look at it, the more I like it, but I feel as if it's to MUCH.

So Elrey, when you said you shoot a lot of jpgs with very little PP, I knew there was hope. :)

So I guess what I am wondering is (and struggle with) will it hit me sooner or later as to what my style is? I know this is such a generic question and I'm the only one who can answer it but is there a defining moment that made you guys say "this is the way I'm going to shoot"

I think what I need to do is quit trying to gear the way i shoot in hopes to please people and get compliments, vs finding my own style, and take the critism and use it to become a better photographer.

Thanks guys for letting me vent.

People...This picture ^^^ is exactly what pushed me to cough up the extra cash for the 5D3. I have been playing around with the AF system for all of the last 36 hours that I have had this camera in my hands and I will just come right out and say it that this thing KILLS the 5D2 in the AF dept. Reliable AI servo and outer focus points are worth every penny. No more throwing away tons of shots that didn't hit critical focus or having to hit the AF button several times while in one shot to make sure you actually have it. If you shoot moving targets (and they don't even have to be that fast), this rig will get you more keepers....period!

Here is a shot of my youngest. He is non-stop. His older sister is as athletic as they come. This is why I bought this camera. I can not afford to miss shots of these two. Not to mention that I am an avid skier, mountain biker, and most of all kayaker. I HAVE to be able to get the shot and the mk2 was failing me.

Very well said. But the trolls and a lot of the 5D II crowd or peole that have not evn held the camera will continue to tell us we are trying to justify our purchase. Give me a break.

yup, it's like the owner of a Ferrari 458, who invested a few years ago.
the scuderia comes out and the 458 owner will say, ahhh my car is just as good - and it's less expensive.
truth is, they will both get you around the track... but one has more ability and therefore is typically more fun to drive.
