Are you the one drinking the wine tonight? Perhaps some Jameson? Lol
I'm humbled by the compliments. Especially when it comes from you, Nate, Monday, etc. It's the pictures/advise you guys take/give along with others on this board that make me strive to become better. Yeah, I get compliments from friends, kids, girlfriend, etc, but honestly deep down it doesn't mean ****, until the people you look up to have something positive to say.
I think my biggest problems are composition, PP, and what my niche is. In the past, my problem has been to over PP. I sometimes just can't stop. My past pictures have to much contrast and seem over saturated. It's funny I was in Madison WI over the weekend and took almost a thousand pics. I've noticed that a lot of RAW's right out of the camera look very "contrasty" and over saturated without even PP . At times I feel they look as if I over PP them. Thus the B/W pic. All I did was change it to B/W and add a little sharpening. Though the more I look at it, the more I like it, but I feel as if it's to MUCH.
So Elrey, when you said you shoot a lot of jpgs with very little PP, I knew there was hope.
So I guess what I am wondering is (and struggle with) will it hit me sooner or later as to what my style is? I know this is such a generic question and I'm the only one who can answer it but is there a defining moment that made you guys say "this is the way I'm going to shoot"
I think what I need to do is quit trying to gear the way i shoot in hopes to please people and get compliments, vs finding my own style, and take the critism and use it to become a better photographer.
Thanks guys for letting me vent.
