guys, I hate to be negative, but can we not reply with all the images in the reply unless it's necessary? Some people are viewing these images on other devices like a cell phone and to inline images just for a comment like "wow, nice!" is pretty much worthless.

I think its not so bad when there is only one picture, but scrolling does get redundant when there are multiple pictures included in the reply.

That's a cool shot. Simple shot, but maybe it is the blue and white that makes it snap for me. Congrats!

My first impression was some shot with her head cut off… that was the only thing distracting me from otherwise a well composed shot

I had the same thought. I think it is because her top and the bush have almost the same tone in B&W. Great shot though - the lighting on the eyes is very nice.

You mean, like this? (These were posted elsewhere but as they will serve to reply to the above, have placed here as well).

The 5D Mk.III's AF in action on small FAST, erratic subjects, pretty high ISOs as well.

Very beautiful shots. Would you be kind enough to share your AF settings? I have been playing with mine for the past while and I just can't quite get things dialled in properly enough to get as many keepers as with my 7D.

QFT... It is such a huge pet peeve of mine. One image or so is fine, but seeing the same set of 4-6 images over and over again for small comments is extremely annoying. I can go through 5 pages and see only a few new sets of photos!

I wish people would quote photos less, for sure. Especially chains of them.

Mentioned something similar in the 5D MK II thread and got laughed at haha.

Love being able to view these forums on my phone, but the people who have sets of images really should post a link to the rest.

Well there is a limit of 8 images(external) in a single post, so there's no issue with posting sets of images. That's the intent of this thread, to post photos.

As for the quoting thing, I agree.. however keep in mind, that quoting an image is a sort of "compliment" type thing. That said, if you quote, maybe everyone should try and only quote the specific images that they want to bring notice to. But, then again, not everyone can figure out where one image starts and another stops, especially when the images are hosted from Flickr with all it's extra crud that is added in.

Lastly, keep in mind that you can change how many posts are displayed per page, so if you don't like having to click through pages, you can go in and change the number to 50 posts per page which helps to alleviate that.

Yup.

•When quoting posts that have photos, please take a minute to remove the [IMG] tags, or just remove the reference to the photo altogether. There's no reason to have the same photo quoted time and again in a thread.

I agree. I always try to address the person who posted the image, while deleting the image so it won't be posted again. If complimenting one particular image of several posted, it's helpful to identify it.

Guys, all he's saying is that his 400D blows the 5D Mark III out of the water. How can you be so slow?

In a related note, I wonder what substance he's on at the time of that posting. I wanna try it too.

my 400d aint good at iso 1600 and the AF is SHOCKING!! not to mention the body size and shape is awful, the shutter sound is yuck and the camera control buttons all over the place. O and the viewfinder? like looking through a tiny p-hole.

Wow, that's great framing Gene. What lens were you using for that?

Thanks Todd. That was shot using my 100-400 at 400mm and cropped.

You didn't ask but I processed it using Nik Silver efex Pro2 as a luminosity layer to increase details and Nik Color Efex 4 to darken/lighten and to increase brilliance/warmth. I also did a little dodging around the Mockingbirds head.
