well I had ONE OOF shot today..... 10 second delay for a group shot, I hadn't moved AF to the rear button only, so when I stabbed the shutter to begin the shot it AFed on accident w/o me knowing what/where it was aimed. otherwise, so far I'm loving it. I didn't realize it was 10% heavier than the 5D2 though, that was a shock.

Awesome Ben. Looks like you were able to get yours for this weekend. what are your initial impressions vs your 5d2 and the 7d?

It does have pretty good color. It's just a real nice shooting camera. I'm really tempting the notion of getting 2 of them!

Agreed! Colors look alot better than 5d2.

Huh? The colors on the 5D2 never disappointed me, and I'm not really seeing any major difference in that department with the 5D3. Granted, I've only had the new camera for a couple of days, but...color??! The 5D2 delivered great color.

You don't see any difference? It was one of the biggest changes I have noticed from the 5D2.

The 5D2 was not bad by any means... they were very neutral in appearance. The 5D3 has better color contrast and saturation maybe? They just look really good.

Are you maybe shooting JPEG?? So far, no I'm not seeing any noticeable difference in the raw files, but maybe I just need to shoot more with it. It probably doesn't help that we've had overcast and rainy weather since I received the 5D3. I don't think it stopped raining for even one minute all day today. :(

I shoot raw and I like what I see more now. I loved my 5d2. Had no issues but the three does seem to render a bit "richer" and cleaner IMO. Maybe its also the LCD on the camera as well ;).

You guys using the Lens Aberration Correction? I always kept it on and used LR's Lens Correction on Import, but I am wondering if I should turn it off on the camera and just let LR do it only.

I'm starting to really hate the zoom. It wasn't so bad initially, but I don't like it all that much now.

I don't mind that they put a dedicated button and use the wheel, I'm cool with that. What I don't like is hitting zoom automatically zooms you in. I want to be able to switch from thumbnail/histogram to full size with one click, not thumbnail/histogram to zoomed in, then have to scroll out so I can see what the full image looks like. Unless I'm missing some sort of short cut, this is kind of annoying.

I typically like to see the thumbnail/histogram with the review image, but if I hit play, I like to see them full size with only one click. If there is a shortcut I don't know about, let me know!

I notice it the most on overcast days. Colors seem to be alot more rich and smooth.

Has anyone noticed how nice the colors from this camera are? I don't know if it is the more accurate WB or what, but I am getting the nicest colors out of any canon body I have used. Including the Xsi, T1i, 7D, 5Dc and 5D2. I have noticed just how pleasing all my images look sooc or from RAW. Impressive sensor... Or Digic 5... Whatever is doing it! But it is not my imagination that is for sure.

Took the camera to Pittsburgh today and really tested the camera out... love these results... Not one missed focus, servo or one shot. Metering was accurate even in challanging light, very little messing with EC.

!!

I'm loving the colours of the 5DIII, Canon has some magic going there!

check out that pic from the 5d3. the 5d3 looks sharper, but maybe thats due to DOF issues? or i wonder if it was SOOC jpg... hmmm...

I agree. I think that zoom button is in such a stupid location. I do/use alot of MF and if i need to do LV and MF, i wish it still had the same zoom layout of the 5DII. Now with the zoom button on the left side just makes it more tedious.

I've had mine for 2 days. First thoughts are; high ISO on still lifes look great, real world not quite as good, AF the 61 point and selection option are great however the outer set is not cross type points and function very poorly in low light on low contrast subjects, if you move one row in those points nail focus quickly in low light, metering seems much better, auto WB is still pretty poor.

I'm bumbed that Lightroom 4 does not support the MK 3 and even with the DNG conversion you are left with limited editing.

Although I like the dual card slots I don't like the new grip (much thicker)
That's all I have so far.

Because i use the zoom on the LCD a lot I like the way it works even though I'm still getting used to it because my 7D buttons started to stick a little bit. That can't happen with the wheel on the 5dmkiii.
