Saxi wrote in post #14142181 You set a "index" on the files. It defaults to a random string of like 4 number/letters. Then it uses sequential from there. So for me, it defaulted to "_K3C" and then it goes sequential. You can customize this as well. I think this is awesome, especially if you shoot more than one camera of the same type. Avoids overlaps that can cause problems. Very cool idea, not sure if the 5D II or 1D did it, but it is brilliant. arentol wrote in post #14142879 I actually wouldn't consider that brilliant. In fact the reverse, I consider it idiotic that it hasn't been this way for at least the last 4 years in all cameras, and 8 years in semi-pro and pro cameras. So that we have it is fantastic, but it really should have come a long time ago, like in the 5dc and the 30d and such. Ive been able to do this on my 1DmarkIIn... in fact i changed mine to say 1D2NXXXX back when i had both a 1D and a 40D Canon EOS-1D Mark II N | Sony Alpha NEX-6 | Canon EOS 5D | Canon EOS 6D | Canon EOS 6D Mark II | EF 70-200mm 1:2.8 L USM | EF 24-70mm 1:2.8 L USM | EF 17-40mm 1:4 L USM | EF 50mm 1:1.8 STM | EF 40mm 1:2.8 STM | EF 35mm 1:2 IS USM | EF 24-105mm 1:4 L IS USM | 580EX II
