Here is a panoramic I took in Pittsburgh this weekend... Sadly the light was not that great (would of been if we did not get this stupid cold front... I miss the hot weather already!). But it was this or nothing. First time taking the cable car up to the top of the mountain, it was great! Pittsburgh still is probably the most beautiful city in my eyes. Too bad the light was not better though for these shots. I will be going back for sure at dusk in the future! These are just merged together from JPEG's, although I have the RAW files. Must wait for LR4 :p

Playing with just the JPEG files is extremely impressive though... Pushing shadows under bridges and such, detail comes right back no banding at all. These files are so much more forgiving then any other past camera I have used. Those who are DR freaks will be impressed! Link below can be viewed at full size, which is quite large.

Just visited Calumet in Manchester and they had 2 x bodies and 2 x kits in. Walked out with a kit version.

Very nice. I would agree that Pittsburgh has a beautiful city and the cable car is pretty cool.

I just figured out how to fix one of my biggest gripes. When you hit zoom, it defaults to 2x zoom, I much prefer no zoom, I just want the image full screen and will zoom if I feel like it. Under play you can change the default zoom from 2x to 1x. This is a big help as I didn't like how it zoomed right in and I had to keep zooming out!

You can...

Hit menu, go to the 3rd tap, 3rd page... Magnification (apx) switch to 1x.

Thanks! I just wish we can place an option to change the zoom button to a different location..

Considering the harsh lighting, I think the 5D III handled this really well. There seems to be some nice DR there, certainly more than my 7D.

That's what I said, but I didn't realize it until today when I was fiddling with it. Much more usable now, was annoying me before I always had to zoom out.

I'm hoping a 5D3 owner can tell me: is there a noticeable difference in viewfinder size/brightness between the MK III and MK II?

Thanks!

I do. You actually see what you're shooting. Also the grid works out very well for composition.

Cant wait to see how it handles motorsport A/F wise as i really wanted to save for another MKIV after selling my last one as cant afford a 1DX but now the 5DMKIII has me wondering.

I rented one for the weekend. The viewfinder is MUCH better than the 5DII's. 100% coverage now, so what you see is what you shoot.
