I use the Black Rapid on the Kirk provided screw hole, same way you use it straight on a camera body. Works great.

How do you attach it? shoxpro wrote in post #14104062 I use the Black Rapid on the Kirk provided screw hole, same way you use it straight on a camera body. Heath wrote in post #14109387 I just found these guys. Op/tech Utility Loop http://optechusa.com …nectors/utility-loop.html I am thinking I can use these on the strap loop on the L-Bracket and then I do not have to unscrew anything to mount the camera on a tripod. Anyone try this? I wonder how the camera will hang. I have those loops on my Holga, my Bronica ETRSi, and my Yashica Electro 35. They work great for what they are - quick attachment points for a carabiner sling strap. The camera (if you're using the side strap mounting point) hangs a bit odd, but works perfectly for quickly bringing to your eye without the strap getting in the way. -Dave

RPCrowe Cream of the Crop More info | I own RRS L brackets for all my cameras and have never bought one new. I have gotten good deals on used L brackets on eBay. bracket is pretty well industructible. Buying a used one would propose no problems... See my images at http://rpcrowe.smugmug.com/

Mar 18, 2012 23:07 | #24 Their designs vary for each camera. With my 1D Mark II I liked Kirk's design better for reasons I can no longer recall without re-investigating the whole matter. If/when I get a 5D3 I'll be looking at the overall design of both brand's brackets to make my choice. http://www.colorblindedphoto.com

Especially as RRS don't seem to realise that there exists a world beyond North America. Here in the UK we have to buy from the US (with $50 shipping, plus 20% tax), buy from risky Ebay merchants or buy from a handfull of European sites of unknown reputation and reliability. Kirk, OTOH, are sold by the UK's equivalnet to B&H - WEx. That makes it a no-brainer for me and, I owuld imagine, the vast majority of European purchasers. This is what I expected. RRS is a mom and pop operation. I own their gear but have never received great support. They upgraded their 5D plate and when I asked how to tell which I had, they replied, "well if it works, why do you care?". They never did answer me. I've got other stories too. They accidentally sent me the wrong plate in one order and were able to ship another one overnight. No trouble with their service here... -Dave
