EDIT: This thread is now open for everyone to post their photos and for discussing Cuba (please, no politics though, since the forum rules don't allow it)!

It's been a looong time since I started a thread and thought it'd be fun to give it a try again. We have just returned home from two awesome weeks in Cuba and here are some of my shots (5D with 24-105L and 35L):

Beautiful images. I wish that Americans were allowed to visit there, but travel is restricted.

We can, but via Canada. Why does the government hold a grudge againt Cuba? Granted, a communist regime, so? So is China. My state would be in opposition, as gambling in a tropical paradise sure beats the desert of Las Vegas.

I think .CuBa's a country very poor.I see in photos

Yes, so sad, and primarily as a result of the U.S. imposed trade and travel restrictions.

Thank you all very much! I hadn't expected this many comments.

Cuba is a wonderful place to visit, with friendly people, music everywhere, lots to see and beautiful light/colors. Very poor though and I feel for the people.

Your comment peaked my curiosity, so I made a little trip around the internet to refresh my memory. Just to make it short, we've been unhappy with them for many years but tolerated them. From what I've read the government has always been a little crooked. We tried to purchase the country from Spain a couple of times. When Castro came into power he seized the American companies that were operating there. We in turn boycotted him. Then there was that little missile crisis in 1962 that just about blew one of us up (or both of us including Russia). I think the fact that it's a communist regime right off of our coast is one of the major reasons we won't deal with them. You make a good point though. Why do we deal with China? Because they hold a major part of the US debt?

I would like to visit Cuba at some point in my lifetime.

Now where's come more pics? :)

The Bay of Pigs fiasco did not help matters either. In short, we have been unsuccessful in bringing Cuba to be our puppet, so we boycott the country. Even more ironic, we have a major military base on Cuban soil. Regardless, seriously considering a vacation trip there via Canada.

Thank you for your interesting comments! There sure is a lot lot be said on this topic, but I don't think the forum rules allow politic discussions, so perhaps it's best not to. I don't want my thread to be deleted. :)

I'll try and post a few more photos soon.

I love seeing shots of Cuba, it looks to be such an interesting place and so different from anywhere I have ever been. Thanks for posting.
