Thanks a lot.
Any 50D owner, can you share with me if this a usual 50D condition on JPG?
I shoot primarily with a 50D. I do not shoot at ISO 800 for this reason. Ever.
Try shooting another well-lit, outdoor image at ISO 800. By well-lit, I mean that you would be shooting at around f5.6, 1/2000 second, ISO 800.
Then, take another identical shot at f5.6, 1/500 second, ISO 200.
Crop each image to 100%. If you notice that the image shot at ISO 200 does not exhibit this problem to the same extent, then that will confirm my suspicions - that this is simply noise due to shooting at higher ISOs.
If the ISO 200 image looks just as bad as the ISO 800 image, then something is wrong with your 50D.
Oh, yeah - one more thing. Feel free to keep on pixel-peeping. How will you continue to improve the technical excellence of your imagery unless you examine your images closely, and continually strive to make improvements?
"Your" and "you're" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"They're", "their", and "there" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one.
"Fare" and "fair" are different words with completely different meanings - please use the correct one. The proper expression is "moot point", NOT "mute point".
