I am thinking about getting an extra lens to take on a cruise in April. You can see what I have from my signature. I am thinking of the 8-15mm Fisheye or the 15mm Fisheye 2.8. I have use the 15mm several times and always enjoyed it.

But maybe there is something I am not thinking of...

I'm heading out to a cruise in the very near future.

I think I'm just gonna lug an UWA (16-35) and 100-400 (2 lenses). I actually just bought a 100-400 for this purpose. I was told I can see eagles and Aurora borealis. I'm also bringing my joe demb flipit and 580exii. I can achieve nice perspective of family photos using the 35mm range.

I see no purpose for a fish eye since an UWA can give a neat effect. The fisheye imo is to specialized and looking at many photos with fisheye effects would make me ill. I think the UWA gives a nice story telling image. Too many fisheye photos can get tiring if you look at hundreds of fisheye photos.

My take is I want to enjoy my time and not freak about my camera gear. I'm debating that I may bring an 85 f/1.8 aswell.

Can you tell us what kind of cruise it is. And where you are going?

From your profile you have 17-40L, 24-70L, EF 50 1.4, EF 85 1.8, EF 70-200 F4 L. From that selection, and with the destinations you mention, I would not rent a thing. Just take the 17-40L, 24-70L, and maybe the EF 85 1.8. Shot max RAW and you can pull things in as needed (not likely).

One of those tilt-shift lenses for when the ship tips over.

That's pretty funny.

Doh! Stole my line!

But I was going to say a lens which floats.

In all honesty, given your gear list, I'd say a tilt shift might be fun. Thinking about a miniature style shot from an upper deck of all the people on lower decks.

I'd suggest a 100-400. Sunsets at 400. Shots of shoreline as you pass.

Tilt shift could be fun too.

I was joking about the tilt shift thing...from what I've heard of cruises from people who have been on them is "the food". You might want to take something you can take photos of the food with, and you've got an impressive list of lenses now. Maybe the 100L.

A fisheye might be fun if you are into panoramic photograph. You could do a spherical one in four shots.

I take you plan on carrying two to three lens at any given time to keep the weight down?
