What time did B&H preorders go live? I thought it was 2am EST but it looks like people were ordering around midnight.

Try the smaller regional outlets. It looks like Canon is using the "shallow and wide" distribution pattern they have used with recent models: They distribute fewer cameras to the big dealers, but also distribute a few cameras to the small dealers at the same time. So your chances are better as the only person on a small dealer's waiting list than as the 150th person on a large dealer's waiting list.

Take the cameras going to Best Buy, for instance. The odds are your local Best Buy will have their one or two bodies hidden below the case--because a $3500 isn't going to sell well enough to take up display space. So if you get there quick and ask for it, you'll get it earlier than people on the B&H waiting list.

No one knows for sure about how many B&H are getting nor if B&H has them ready to ship, we just don't know.

Andy btw, there's a big ship of containers docked at Oahu and was wondering if that's filled with camera and maybe it's taking a quick stop to y'all on the mainland.

When the last two 5D models came out, the distribution pattern was pretty obvious. People across the country were easily finding cameras in their local stores while people were on the B&H and Adorama waitlists for months.

That is hilarious.

Its funny that a camera which costs so much may(and shall) sell out!

a 500 dollar phone... I cam be persuaded to understand why it sells out...

a $3500 camera.... well, the next person who complains about a rough recession AND owns a 5D mark 3, gets hit with a big stick.
