Sean,
You've done a terrific job for your first attempt at volleyball. If you can post the pics instead of the link, you'll get more response. Some notes:
#1 The positioning for this shot is good. Most of the player's face is visible. Your camera is focused on the background instead of the player. That's why he is a bit soft. The timing is OK but could be better if the ball was closer to the player. The shot and crop is too loose.
#2 I like this shot a lot. Face, ball, action, athleticism; its all there. I'd crop it tighter.
#3 Same comment as #2. The shot is a hundredth or two late.
#4 Very nice. The player is in profile instead of full face but the picture still works. When you shoot back row players, make your angle to them sharp enough to see more of their faces.
#5 Good shot. No great action but an OK shot. Face, ball, and focus are good and that's enough. Try this shot really tight and shoot it just before the player tosses the ball. Get the intense eye focus on the ball. Capture just the face, ball and arms.
If you wait until the player hits the ball, the arm tends to get in the way of the face.
#6 No face. Delete.
Again, you did a nice job--- a great job for the first time out. Lots of guys never get shots this good after many reps.
Cheers.
Phil
