Making a 5d2 more weather proof?

I am curious if there are any known ways to increase weather resistance on the 5d2 body?

I am thinking 64 gig card with tape over the door and sealing up the strap lugs. The buttons seem well sealed and the body panels are tight. Couldn't hurt to seal those too, I guess.

I would never leave it out in pouring rain, but it seems smart to at least increase the reliability if I can.

Anyone else attempt this?

Thoughts?

And I am not buying an underwater case.

the actual weather proofing of the 5d mark ii seems to be spotty. I have herd of people who claim they shot with it in a rain storm without problems. Then there are cases where light rain killed the mark ii. So I would say only shoot in those conditions if you have too and are getting paid for it.

These wonderful accessories are affordable and come in a variety of sizes and colours to suit your needs and tastes!!

Before you laugh...I'd put up the water resistance abilities of the above bags against a 5D2's any day of the week ;)

On a more serious note, they sell bags specifically made for DSLRs...just Google "Camera rain cover" or something similar and you'll see...they're cheap, easy and - while a little cumbersome to use - are 100% waterproof unlike the hit-or-miss waterproofing Canon puts in its sub-1D cameras.

I use a plastic shopping bag in the rain, works good enough so far.

I'm afraid that all the realistic options have been covered already...it just remains how much you want to pay for your plastic bag!

I bought a proprietry sleeve, complete with drawstring, for using with tele lenses out to about EF300f4....and am happy enough with the $12 (NZ) I paid for it, but shopping bags and a bit of gaffer tape make as much sense.

I kind of like the left hand bag in Lowrider's post...it's a little less obvious than the white one. Stylish even!

(edit: My 5D2 has been rained on lightly many times and suffered no harm, but I tend to wipe the rain off it on a regular pasis.)

Growing old disgracefully!

I use an umbrella for rain. What I am looking for are ways to just seal up the body a bit extra without reducing functionality. :)

Guess I'll have to just give a try and hope it works.

I have a rain sleeve, but have been shooting before and had it start to sprinkle - my 5D2 has definitely gotten a few raindrops before I managed to put it back in the bag or get the rain sleeve on. No ill effects so far (knock on wood).
