Buying a Used 5d Mk II - What to Look For?

With all the 5D II s on sale in the local market, I'm considering buying a used one while every gear head is selling their (perfectly good) cameras off. The best deal new that I've found in my city was $2299.00, but there are dozens of used copies ranging from $1600 to a few (delusional) $2200 ads. If I could find a 5d II with <10 000 shots on it at a fair price, I'd think about picking one up because it would be the perfect time for a deal.

I've read about the known issues, mainly some cameras have autofocus issues in low light, in live view, and the banding noise at low-light high ISO. I've seen too many amazing shots in the example galleries here to believe these are widespread issues. The big worry for me is that I get a bad camera with no warranty from a private sale. Any hints to test for these issues on the camera's I look at? How to I get an accurate shutter count on the camera?

Also what are used Mk IIs going for in your area?

Picked up one today, 6 months old, with 10 000 actuations for $1800, that was the best deal I could find. I'm loving it so far.

150,000 shutter cycles is a typical life for Mark II shutter.
