Thanks and yes, once you hit D1 your chances of better light increase. Still some places where it isn't ideal but this arena has above average lighting.

Your shots are fantastic.

I have been looking at your baseball pictures a lot for inspiration/ideas for my son's baseball games (slight age difference though, he is in the 5-6 year old league).

LOL, thanks Burnet, for all your kind words. As for PP, these are all iso2500 I believe but I still ran them through one-pass NR just to get rid of anything in the darker areas, etc. and then sharpened, then posted them here. The 300 and Mark IV lens/body combination is very sharp. And this 300 is a lot older than your lens I'm sure. It's probably 9 years old by now. I'll post another, bigger size so you can see the old girl's still got it.

Thanks a lot, I love shooting baseball. I'm shooting a three-game series this weekend so I will have more to post then.

And now that basketball is over, I've got two golf tournaments next week as well as a couple of tennis matches so I'll be posting some different sports

Very nice. Are you in the stands? When I have shot college games, the credential said you can't shoot from press row, so I'm curious about your location.

You're right, NCAA says no photography from press row. I had the neon photographer's arm band on and I moved around up top quite a bit and never was told that I couldn't, so that's what I did. It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. Most of this was from the first ring above the lower bowl seats. The cheerleader one was at halftime and I was walking down the tunnel and I turned around and there she was holding up the sign and I just lifted up the lens real quick and shot a couple off. I cropped a few of them so I can see how it might change the perspective.

Here's the one of the player, the original image.

Thanks, a few more for you. Last one is an example of not everything always working out like you'd hope. The JayHawk girl was closer to me so I shot her first, 2 frames was all I got and in the second frame of her, her eyes are closed. When I panned left to shoot the Rock Chalk girl, this was the only shot I got before she lowered the sign. I wish I'd caught it at a different angle so the sign wasn't washed out but such is life.

Which version of the 300 2.8 do you have?

Canon EOS 1D Mark III | Canon EOS 1D Mark II | Canon EF 70-200mm f2.8 L | Canon 400mm f2.8 L | Canon EF 17-40mm f4 L

very nicely done. I love seeing the longer lens images for hoops. The 70-200/300 combo is the one just about all of us around here seem to go with. Never loved hand holding the 300 but its not as bad as some make it out to be.

Image wise, these are top notch. Since telling you how great you are doesn't make you any better or even give you something to really think about, I'll offer one nitpicky crit, the colors looks just a touch flat to me. The easiest way to fix this is to create a batch action in PS that applies a 5-10% soft light layer. This effectively adds a touch of color and contrast and can really remove much of the flatness. Again, its minor and nitpicky but just something to consider or even try and see what you think.

Keep up the great work man!
