Which version of the 300 2.8 do you have?

Version I, I think it was released in 2003 or thereabouts. It is the IS version, maybe it was '99, I'm not sure but it's at least 9 years old.

very nicely done. I love seeing the longer lens images for hoops. The 70-200/300 combo is the one just about all of us around here seem to go with. Never loved hand holding the 300 but its not as bad as some make it out to be.

Image wise, these are top notch. Since telling you how great you are doesn't make you any better or even give you something to really think about, I'll offer one nitpicky crit, the colors looks just a touch flat to me. The easiest way to fix this is to create a batch action in PS that applies a 5-10% soft light layer. This effectively adds a touch of color and contrast and can really remove much of the flatness. Again, its minor and nitpicky but just something to consider or even try and see what you think.

Keep up the great work man!

Thanks, I really appreciate the compliments and I will definitely look into adding just a bit of color. These were SOOC as far as color, etc. goes, so I think you're probably right. I really love shooting hoops with the 300, as a lens it's just so damn sharp. I actually had it on a monopod. If I was down on the floor I probably would have just been handholding it but when you're up top and the lens is constantly being pointed down, it can get a bit top heavy after awhile.

70-200 is a sharp lens. It is better stopped down a bit but its sharp enough wide open.

Good point on the monopod, I thought you shot those from the baseline.
