What to do if you lose a tension knob on a ballhead?

Can you repeat the question, please?

I don't own an expensive ballhead. In fact, I own a relatively inexpensive ball head from a now defunct photography equipment company named Amvona. It is the ATH-A09 ball head and I am missing one of the main knobs. I don't know where it went... perhaps I wasn't kind enough to it.

Is there something that I could purchase to replace the knob? Could I walk into a Home Depot and find something I could use instead? I don't want to spend much money.

Thanks.

Taking photos with a fancy camera does not make me a photographer.

Not sure what the tension knob looks like on your ball head? Is there a post sticking out of it where the knob use to be? If so you can go to a hardware store and buy some sort of knob and fasten it on. If there is a hole where the knob use to be, I would guess it would be easier to just buy a new ball head.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

it depends on the type, i have an old amvona ballhead and it's just a bolt with a knob that i could fashion from a piece of scrap. a picture would be helpful but i think some time spent in the bolt & screw aisle at the hardware store.

Hmmm.... maybe a volume knob or potentiometer knob to replace it?

I was thinking small vice grip pliers, but without a picture I don't know what would work.
He/she should be able to JB Weld something to it and get it functioning.

I'd say buy a new ballhead but keep the old incomplete one just in case you ever find the original tension knob.

My BIL has an Amvona ball head. Both the lock and tension knobs are the same. Do you still have the other one? If so, you can take it out and try to fit it in the missing knob's place. If it works, take it to a hardware store and find out the exact thread/pitch of the knob. From there you can buy a bolt and start fabricating a replacement. If that sounds like too much work, then buy another ball head.
