These captures of Chipping Sparrows were taken over the last couple of months and are presented in approximate chronological order. I think you can see that as Spring has approached and now arrived their colors, especially on the crown, have responded very nicely. The last 3 images are from just over a week ago.

I'm still not sure if they have achieved the pinnacle of their color, but they're looking awfully nice right now. I hope you've enjoyed the images and their progression from Winter to Spring. Thanks as always for looking, commenting, and critiques are always welcome!

Very nice chronological look at the chippers... pretty captures; I like the pose in #3 with the perch and BG... and tucked away in the habitat in #5.. and #7 would be my favorite with the natural detail, light and composition.

Wonderful series. They're so common around here, that they're largely ignored, but they're really a very pretty bird. Great shots!

That is a lovely set Steve. I just looked back again to try and pick a favourite but couldn't do so, every one has its own allure.

These are great shots Steve, they're one of my favorite winter visitors, I always hate to see them head back north.

What a pretty little bird. I never see enough of these and wish I saw more. #3 is a killer shot. Frame that one.

Steve, what a wonderfully creative post and I'm so very grateful to you for taking care of those little Chipping Sparrows for me. :) They look just about ready to make there way back up to New York.

I'm in agreement with the third shot out of the close-ups, but lately focusing upon showing more of the habitat in my own bird photos I'm quite taken by yours. They are both enjoyable Steve.

Much appreciated Dave. I was happy w/the variety here, but I too like the well lit subject and darker background of #7.

Thanks so much Craig. I'm glad you liked them.

I appreciate the compliment depthfinder. I have bunches of Chippers and think they're the prettiest of the local Sparrows.

Thanks Barry! I actually may have shown #4 before, but I can't help showing "personality".

You're very kind Lloyd and it's much appreciated. I'm trying hard to have greater variety and am glad it's noticed.
