I've done a lot of graphics design in the past.

I can honestly say thats not a good logo.

The more simple the better:

I'd also say that that logo is very dated looking and you should aim for something more modern.

EDIT: Don't mean to be an arse but i'd recommend changing the font on your website too. A more modern Sans Serif font would look much better. Helvetica or Arial are most popular choices.

I think an important aspect is how the logo prints; and this one's not going to print well. The complexity and tightness in the gradients may be nice for the screen, but once it get's to paper, it'll be a mess.

Also, always think to yourself "Will this look the same in black and white and color?" Strong logos shouldn't rely upon the media they end up on, but the staying power of the design.
