i think these are best basketball shots i've seen here.

Care to share some info? Gear, settings, etc.?

Looks like you were shooting down a little to get these- Were you in the stands? They also look incredibly sharp- were they ambient?

I was up, just situated underneath where the ESPN cameras were in the corner of the end seats. I saw the position last game and figured if it's good enough for broadcast, I should be able to get some good stuff from there.

All shots are 1D Mark IV, 300 2.8 at 3.5, iso 2500, SS 1/640

Pretty good light in there, I am jealous....

I just ordered a used copy of that lens as well, sadly it seems to be a bad copy, so it is being returned.

Yeah, light's not bad. I could've bumped up the SS going with 2.8 but there's really no need and it makes it just a tad bit sharper than wide open IMO.

Great shots. Tack sharp to boot. Did you sit in 1 spot for the whole game?

I was in the same spot for most of the game, yeah. I've found that shooting from the other side doesn't yield as many good photos, at least in my personal experience. Plus, where I was had a good vantage point; I had both benches covered, nice unobstructed view of 80% of the end of the court I was on, except for far corner. And plus the ESPN cameras were just above, so they must know something, right LOL. Thanks BTW, I did get a pretty good copy of this lens and even if it's old, I'm not letting her go anytime soon.

Great stuff, love how the Mark 4 works with the 300. 3.5 is just right. You'ld be surprised at how good shooting at 5000 ISO can be. If you have to get to 5.6, you can now with the higher ISO's!

Thanks. As tempting as the 1Dx is, everytime I shoot with the Mark IV, I'm tempted less and less.
