Have a canon t2i coming my way. I read stuff that having an external flash is very important and a big help. I see canon has many different price options. I noticed a canon for around 150, and an offbrand on amazon for around 100 that people give good reviews to. Should i stick with canon, or are some off brands good? Any suggestions for a cheap flash that will be good enough for a beginner. Speedlight or..

Look at yongnuo's 565EX, or 468 II, both ettl, both relatively cheap and good.

If you want to stick with canon, the 430EXII is the one you want.

I started with a YN460ii, manual flash. Wanted to play with lighting but not spend a bunch. I've found that I like manual flash and can adjust my settings or position quickly. The $ savings is nice too :) But if you want TTL, Sirrith is pretty much dead on.

Thanks guys, ordered the 468 II. Stoked I asked here, I almost forked over money for something inferior probably.
