I use gaffer's tape but am looking for something cleaner. Searching the web I found something called TetherLock. Anyone use it? One issue with me seems to be that I also need the camera be mounted on tripod.

How about a plastic Kwik clip? Cheap, DIY solution.

I just run the cable through the loop in my Canon strap.
Alternatively, you could use a keyring through the strap eyelet on the camera and use a swivel snap or caribiner. Either way, this is the same technique I use to secure my guitar cable.

I started with a 10' roll of 3/8" wide, dual-sided velcro. hook on 1/ loop on other

I cut 2) 2" lengths off. on each i did the following...

cutting lengthwise, I started 1/4" from the left edge and cut to the right about 3/8"
slip the cut end down your left side camera strap bracket and drop the top end through the slit you cut, creating a looped knot around the bracket. it should be secure and hopefully you dont cut too far off the middle, so it does'nt rip when you pull it tight.

I did the same thing, only cutting a 4" length and looping it around the usb cable.

it is very secure and actually made me loop my usb extensions together as they became the weak point. I did this to both of my bodies and love it.

I am planning on using for my yongnuo 603 devices to hang from my stands. whole other issue but the power switch placement is terrible on the 603's.
