So, I have a local seller willing to sell me a 7d body for $985. It's just about 1 year old (1 year warranty ends this month) and he isn't sure how many actuations, but probably less than 5,000. Looks like it's in great shape. Comes with the original box and all accessories.

Then I also have the CLP option, which would cost me about $1,102. Probably will have lower actuations, comes with a 90 day warranty. Comes in white box with all accessories.

What do you guys think? I'm torn between them. I know it's only a $117 difference, but disposable income is rather tight right now. :)

I think you answered your own question...however, if disposable income is so tight why are you buying a camera?

Sorry, poor wording on my part, disposable income towards buying a camera (ie. my camera budget).

Refurb all day. But it will be $1086 plus tax and shipping. Have the seller use http://eoscount.com/ (external link) to verify his 5000 accusations.

Thanks for the tip on the actuations.

For the refurb, I'm counting on my friend in NH to order with no sales tax:D, so I'm assuming $15 shipping from him to me which puts it around $1,102.

I'd go with something not used.

CLP is a bit longer warranty considering, plus it is inspected by Canon. There isn't enough savings to go used over CLP IMO. I'm a big CLP fan.

Go refurb. Canon USA refurb is top notch. Never failed to get products that are indistinguishable from brand new --- except the box it comes in isn't retail.

My refurb 5D2 had tighter autofocus with two 85Ls out of the four 5D2s among my group of friends.

If you are concerned about the 90 day warranty Adorama sells and extended for 3 Years for $129 ( at least when I bought mine). You will love the 7D and I have never regretted buying a refurb. Mine had to go back to Canon after about two weeks for a Shutter but what if it was a used body? My cost. I would rather have the repaired unit even with the inconvience.
Happy Shopping!

Thanks for the tips everyone! :)

Based on everyone's experience, I will definitely go with the refurb. I agree that the advantages far outweigh the added cost.

The question is, in your mind, is the 14-day return privelege and 90-day warranty worth the extra $120? If your answer is Yes, then go refurb.
