Where is the show? Who is running it? Have they provided you with entry criteria? Most galleries and museums have pretty basic requirements for showing. 11x14 prints are typically framed in 16x20 frames....simple black metal frames are the most common. The prints are typically double matted on white or off-white mats. Prints frame better if they are mounted to a backer before framing. 11x14 is most commonly dry mounted to double weight mat board. You can do the mounting yourself, but it generally looks a whole lot more professional if you have the lab do it for you as part of the printing process.

thanks. I participated last year. there are no supplies given. It is a fund raiser in a hospital I work at. I should have had the lab do it (I printed at adorama, and they did provide the service). I was looking for sugestiona and tutorials. I guess I can hit youtube.

Since you participated last year....what did the majority of the entries look like? I would suspect that would be a good starting point.

Not sure what you mean about no supplies given....I don't know of any show that gives you framing or matting materials. My question was geared to the "do they want framed and matted prints" or "do they want prints on a backer board for casual display"?

If you decide to just mount to foam core or matboard, 3M makes a variety of spray adhesives suited for the task. You should be able to find them a Michael's or Hobby Lobby or a similar type of arts and crafts store. Major photo retailers usually carry them too.

thanks woolburr. I gave them some framed photos last time, but the lighting was not great with a lot of glare. they dont specify how they want them. I have been looking at foam mounting boards. they come both with adhesive and without adhesive. I am thinking of picking up a pack of 10 and just some spray glue.

If you go foam board, get the self-adhesive ones. Cheaper and easier than spray glue, look good, but are a bit (ok, very) fragile and will warp with moisture shifts unless you add some sort of stiffener - aluminum angle with double-stick (carpet) tape works well for large formats.
