Wondering - how many Flickr 'views' do you have?

And how long have you had your account?

I was wondering about this. I think the statistics are somewhat fascinating. Its interesting where my views seem to come from. It's kind of fun to check it one morning and find that one of my images has been explored and suddenly it has like a thousand views.

So, I was wondering, is my experience pretty average? What is average? What's exceptional? Does it matter at all? I guess that the more people that see my photography, the better...but I could be wrong. What's your experience been?

I have 7,487 since about this time last year. Im not suprised though Im not really all that good and my photos not particularly interesting. When you log into your account does that could has a view? If so quite a few of those viewings are likely me

Hahaha no no - that doesn't count! Don't beat yourself up! Now I feel all depressed!

Me? I want to do some professional portrait work, so I'm working hard trying to book models and shoot as often as I can. I'll take any kind of pseudo-positive exposure.

I jest Im really only in it for myself so Im not overly worried if no-one is looking. If I get the occasional compliement thats great, if no no harm no foul.

Im into people photography but not really portraits, Im going to another cosplay convention this weekend based on Japanese Anime so I should get some good stuff then.

9864 on an, um, 500px account over nine months.

I think it really has to do with how many groups you add your photos to. I don't add many photos to groups, but when I do that shot will rack up a hundred views. Many people wil add a single shot to a to a ton of groups, of course they are going to have a ton of view. Me... Going on 4000 in the last year and a half or so.

Interesting responses so far. Does anyone think that perhaps more views (meaning more exposure perhaps) has any real benefit on flickr? Does it matter at all? Should it?

I've got 6,355 on my account since 27 Aug 2011... I can trace a lot of those to wedding pictures I did for my sister (she posted a link on FB and my traffic went nuts for a few days)... about another 700-100 views were for a family portrait session I did....

I think your amount of hits also depends on how much time you spend adding keywords and if you're a member of any Flickr groups... depending on how active the groups are... some people who don't have a lot of pictures have tons of views and comments... a few folks that are local to me have tons of views and comments on pictures that are mediocre at best.. I think it has a lot to do with if you post your pics via Flickr links on other social media sites...

As far as what you get out of it... I'm not sure.. I never had a customer that's hired me based on my Flickr stream. Also my paid shoots tend to not go on the Flickr stream.. for me, Flickr is a collection of random snapshots I've taken... not an example of my "normal" work.

That makes sense to me. My flickr stream is where all my stuff goes. I'm obviously a lot more selective when it comes to my portfolio. I suppose it is about how much time you spend adding images to groups and all of that. I wonder if anyone has seen a real benefit from flickr? I suppose if I had a website with a blog and I linked all of my blog images to my flickr account, then flickr could be a way to drive traffic to my blog, maybe increasing the chances that I come up higher in searches for local photographers..? But I'm guessing. I don't do a lot of SEO - but I have some friends who are into that sort of thing. I think I'll ask around...
