What would be some good settings to use when take pics of Christmas lights on my house? Like aperture, shutter speed, and ISO? Anybody have any suggestions?

i say... keep the ISO as low as possible... keep the shutter open for 2-5 sec... put the camera on a tripod and let her rip. assuming you're shootin with your G6.

Hi mknabster,

Last year I took this picture with my fathers Powershot PRO1

I took it with the ND filter ON so I could take the picture with a shutter speed of 15" (to get all lights on, and a tad overexposed) and a f3.5 that was the setting for a correct exposure at ISO 50. I would recomend, since you will need a tripod anyway, to use the lowest iso available to reduce noise, the longest shutter speed you can manage to get as most of the lights on as possible, and the f value to whatever is correct to expose the picture with your desired ambience light. Hope this helps,

The shot has a nice warm feel to it. You could shoot in raw and make adjustments laer but a tripod is a most for the long exposure.

Still pretty new to this forum so don't know if I'm breaking some sort of etiquette by posting this link; it's just that reading this post reminded me of this item, I don't know how you'd manage to get a still shot of these Christmas lights. If you don't like the lights the music is great (my own opinion only); so a little volume is good.
