I am contemplating adding two Chimera softboxes (Strip) and have questions about speedrings. I am working with two Elinchrom RX600 lights, but would like to occasionally use Alien Bee 800's that have been gathering dust. I have read about the Bowens Quick Ring:

I would like to know if there is a way to use a combination of inserts with the Bowens Quick ring so that either light can be used? I know that there is a Chimera insert for the Elinchrom lights. Can someone point me at the appropriate insert that might work with the Bowens Quick Ring and Alien Bees?

Lastly I have seen posts regarding the length of the RODS if you are not using the correct speed ring. If anyone has some experience with this, I would appreciate some input...

Regards,

You can purchase different "inserts" for a speedring.....
But changing out the inserts is not exactly that simple, so in reality it's best to just get two speedrings, one with an insert for your elinchroms and one for your AB.....

My speed ring changes real easy. Its 3 thumbscrews. Dont even have to take all of them out. Just loosen them. Pull one insert out drop the other in and re tighten. My guess is about 15 seconds is all it takes.
