Sold my 60D for the fuji x100, I love that camera to death for doing street stuff. Got a couple wedding job booked in early Summer, not sure I really like the x100 to be my second body to go with the 5D MK II. Kinda regard that I sold the 60D, but don't wanna spare the money for one again and not really interested in spending more money to go for the 7D or another 5D MK II. T2i is having a rebate at my local camera store, it is only $549 for the body, should I go for that instead?

For those whose main interest is in creating pictures, the Canon T2i is a very capable camera. It produced these images:

By the old-fashioned standard of actually generating images, the T2i is a very good camera, and the price quoted in this thread is an exceptional price.

The T2i is more than capable, and that looks like a really good price for a new body. It will give you the same IQ as a 60d (same sensor) so you will be familiar with that much. The battery won't last as long so take that into consideration if you're shooting a wedding.

If possible, you should try to see it in person before you buy. There are a lot of happy rebel "upgraders" going to the 60D and not so many "downgraders". If its because of finances, then very understandable. Check out the t2i/t3i vs 60D posts. IQ is basically the same, just seems like 60D makes it easier to get the shots. Size difference too could be an issue. Will you be ok with educated guests pointing out that you, the wedding photog, use a rebel?

Youve got time, make some extra money, and look for a good deal for a used xD/xxD, as people are already dumping gear to get one of the digic v's.

You'd be better off with a 60D through Canon's Loyalty Program. I think bodies are going for $640, exclusive of taxes.

Check out my feedback here.

Haha I like your point of the educated guest pointing out the rebel! I don't really mind that lol! The only thing that may bug me is the size, maybe I will just add a grip to it. And the price is hard to say no, I think I am going for it!

The T2i is a great camera, especially for the price. It was my first digital SLR and it delivered so much IQ in such a tiny package with ISO usable up to 3200 at times... Can't go wrong when you just need a cheapy back-up.

The crop factor is quite nice if you want to use it as a second body with more reach for candid (or non-candid) portraits. I leave a 50mm mounted on my 50D for the same reasons.

Shots from my (now sold) t2i:

The camera never got in between me and my shot... XXD ergonomics are better but if you learn the T2i layout... you'll realize Canon put a lot of thought into the ergonomics. I could do everything I needed to quite quickly on that little body. It is tiny though, so a grip does help immensely.

Thanks guys for the input. I pulled the trigger last night and got the t2i. The $549 deal is very hard to pass. The camera does feel very small in hand when compare to my 5d mkii. Grip is on the way for sure. IQ is pretty good indeed.

Thats exactly what I paid for my T1i a year and a half ago and I still love that camera. I use it for astro shots with a fisheye lens all the time.

Properly 6 months from now, the T3i will be this price as well! Lol

The educated ones will be looking at the lens. The newbie "Do I look like a pro?" guys will point at the Rebel. :)
