Hi,

I have not been on the site for many many months. I have been away working, and thus I have not brought my Canon camera with me. I have a photo that I took with my camera phone, that I thought I would like to share with you.

Sorry naddieuk, but I can't conceive that you could go to such a beautiful place without a decent camera. The scenery is magnificent, but no camera phone could do it justice.

Cheers, Helen

While true, you can make the shot better by increasing the contrast.

Thanks for your replies. I was on my luggage limit and some things had to give. I tried to buy a proper camera from here, but was shocked that it is much more expensive than in the UK! I hope that next year I can bring my camera and lenses.

For those who are thinking of taking an "adventure" holiday, I would recommend you to visit Rawanduz, which is a 2 hour journey from Erbil airport. It is completely safe in this area. The best time to visit is on the week of the 19th of March. The evening of the 20th is the Kurdish new year, Nawruz.

Something that I do miss about the DSLR is the fact that I can make a HDR image, so the brightness of the snow does not affect the image.
