This morning while out hiking a wooded area not far from home, I was treated to the most amazing song of a bird that I had ever had the pleasure to listen to.
With my camera in hand and an extra battery in my pocket I set out to find the bird responsible for this beautiful song.
I was finally able to pinpoint the location of the bird.
I set up shop next to a tall pine and waited for my new friend to return.
Though I could still here the call, I was unable to see it for over an hour.
Then it appeared from nowhere as if it just beamed itself into position.
How could so much sound be coming from such a little bird.
I pinched myself to make sure my eyes weren't playing tricks on me and scanned the forest for other birds.
There were no others within range.
As I turned to look back, the bird was gone.
And again I waited.
It returned only once more and I managed one not so great image of it.
When I arrived home I quickly scanned the internet for information on the bird.
I am pleased to announce the bird was a....

I will be venturing back to see if I can locate this bird again.

Huh very interesting Shawn, and not a bad shot at all! Get more! I was guessing all through your narrative what it would be, and I was going to guess Starling! They can have some unexpectedly melodious tones at times too, I think they imitate sometimes.

Great capture, Shawn. They do have amazing songs, don't they? I too find it amazing that something that small can produce something so awesome.

We have its very close cousin here which in Dutch is also called Winter Wren, but it is in fact the Troglodytes troglodytes where you have the Troglodytes hiemalis. But they are so much alike that in the old days they were considered the same I think. I had a meeting with one yesterday and was about to post a couple of shots. Not easy to get good shots of I find. They're quite skittish and moving about so much plus they don't like to leave the cover of the trees/shrubbery etc.

Big congrats on spotting and photographing it, Shawn!!

I spent six hours in the woods this morning, but was unable to relocate it.
I am guessing it moved on, maybe it was just migrating through. :(
