Which CF Card for the 5D Mk III??

Damn. Camera arrived today but my cards are not getting here until monday. Was expecting to temporarily use my type II card from my 30d. no can do according to the manual.

Actually I found out that the type II cards do work, at least for images, which is all I wanted to test with anyway until my fast cards arrive on monday. Cool

Slightly jealous, I've got he opposite problem. Memory cards are here but no camera.

Assuming you mean 8 GB cards, Best Buy's prices are the worst buy ever. They're horribly overpriced there. Must be the MSRP. Almost any reputable online retailer will sell them much cheaper. For example, this CF card is $20 cheaper at B&H with free shipping.

Can anyone confirm burst rates with card speeds yet, or is there a thread correlating data?

I have a tested a Kingston 16GB 133x or a 16GB photofast 366x

Unfortunately I can't remember which card I tested, however whichever card it was I managed to get a 13 shot full RAW burst.

a gent on the fredmiranda site suggested:

"From what I've read so far, the 5D3 utilizes UDMA 7 performance. I've also seen a few posts that the 90 mb/second Sandisk Extreme Pro UDMA 6 600x card is faster than even Sandisk Extreme 60 mb/second cards. So it's clear the card utilizes faster speeds up to at least 600x with UDMA 6 cards.

It is also clear that SD card speed really doesn't matter much as the camera can't utilize the UHS-I cards. So SD performance will be slower when shooting RAW images out of the 5D3."

Get a UHS-1 card, you can get a 16GB 95MB/s UHS-1 on Amazon for about $55.

I get 13 full burst as well on a 60MB/s CF w/ 45MB/s SD using simultaneous writes (RAW/RAW).

I had about 21 burst prior when using just the CF.

To confirm, a 16 GB card shows up as how many shots on the 5D MIII?
