Hey guys.

I'll be returning for a second year to take photos at a concert with about 5,000 attendees at a university. I don't get paid for this gig but it's fun anyway. I don't sign a contract or anything. Since so many people were asking me to take photos of them and their friends last time, I thought I'd make up some cards with a web address where people can buy their photos.

Is it legal to take pictures of the fans and sell them to anyone who wants to buy them, even if I do it on private property? I don't personally see anything wrong with it but thought I would check just in case.

Thanks,
toasty

You're talking about the photography being on private property, not the sales, right?

If you're in the US, yes.

Yup - in the US - and yes the sales are online, I'm only handing out the cards on the private property.

I can't see it being a problem. Of course, if it's on private property, the property owner has every right to ask you to stop or leave at anytime.......so permission would be advisable to avoid any potential conflict.
