Do not hold onto that cash, you wife will know and spend it on something you don't want. Dump it into something that is easily sellable down the road, you might lose 10% of the cash value in the resale but it's better than losing it all.

I think number three would be the best of both worlds. You will see what you were missing once you take landscape shots at true wide angles. And these two lenses would still be in your price range. Also I only suggested the Canon 10-22mm because of the focal range and it has good reviews but I know a lot of people swear by other brands UWA lenses. Their are a bunch of threads about comparing them so I would look into them. Good luck

Thanks for all the ideas folks, really good to get some other perspectives. Right now leaning towards the UWA/501.4 combo, but who knows...this market is insane and I might end up walking out with a Hasselblad kit!!!

Will update once I have emptied my pockets.

i definitely wouldn't spend all day in there...maybe an hour....try to trade in your 17-40L if they do it and pick up the 17-55IS, and then pick up an UWA, and the 50mm f1.4 that you seem to be after....

if it's anything like the silk market i went to in shanghai you'll probably have to spend most the day haggling over the price...:)

I currently have the 17-40L, 851.8, 70-2002.8, 1002.8, 580EX, ext. tubes, tele extenders, Lee filter set, and too many tripods.

I don't have any ideas for buying stuff, but can you sell some of your tripods to come up with more cash to get something nicer or more needed stuff?

I had thought about the 24-70, just sold an older sigma one and found I just was not using it enough. All very convincing points mike. If I could swing the 5D mkii maybe, but I just don't see the 5Dc being enough convince me over a new lens or two...

You can get refurb 5DII for little under $1800, plus tax (I think).

If you want to dabble/get into portraits, maybe another Speedlight or 2.. some umbrellas/softboxes/backgrounds/reflectors...and lots of rechargeable batteries. Maybe not as "exciting" as a new lens, but definitely worth getting.. in the long run.

So ended up getting the canon 50 1.4 for a steal. Picked up a timer and variable nd filter as well. Found a couple 10-20mm options but all overpriced and iffy quality. Spent less than half my budget so will bank the rest and save a bit for the ff body....was definitely looking for those today, but will save for the mkii instead of the 5dc.

Thanks for all the ideas and advice, looking forward to playing with the kit tomorrow.
