I've been interested in editing some video from my 60D and LX5 and have recently upgraded my computer so it is capable. I need some software, but honestly have no idea what to use. I'm kind of a tightwad, so I am going to set the budget at about $100. I'm not going to be doing paid work here, just simple amateur stuff for me and my friends and mostly for play.

I was looking at Sony Vegas or Corel X4/5, are those any good? Something else?

I got Sony Vegas (I can't remember which version) during the Amazon Black Friday week for less than £30 and for the very light use I put it through it works very well. Takes a little time to work out the controls (but what doesn't?!).

Here's a video I shot a couple of weeks ago on my 5DII that I ran through it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmFvelKsRHs (external link)

I downloaded a trial of Vegas 11 Platinum and it seems to work quite well and handle my LX5 and 60D files nicely. It's only $60 on Amazon, so that seems like a good buy.
