Just to get this on track again :-)

What have you programmed the custom (C1..C3) to do?

1. When focus selection is set to the joystick, pressing the joystick dead center, brings you to the center point. However, pressing it again, takes you back to your last focus point. Very useful for quick switching.

2. When Navigating through the Menu system, pressing the Q button will jump you to the next menu, so you dont have to scroll through sub menus.

3. I have assigned my m.fn to raw+jpeg h. when on that custom screen, if you press info, it will show you what your preferred quick file format is. I have set mine to jpeg. Now, I an switch from shooting raw to jpeg, and back to raw by just pressing the mfn button.
please share yours.

I never knew about #1. thanks for listing it

One thing I found out is that setting a minimum shutter speed with auto iso, it will ignore it and shoot with a lower shutter speed if it can't get the proper exposure.

I think safety shift has to be enabled to do this, right?

How about "MY MENU"?
I set mine to:

  • Mirror Lockup
  • Sensor Cleaning
  • Exp Comp
  • Custom WB
  • Record Function+Card
  • External Speedlite Control

Is there anyway of increasing the number of items on this page?

1. I configured the DOF preview button as One-Shot <-> Servo. It is a convenience way to quickly switch between focusing mode using your pinky.
2. I configured the AF-ON button as start AF with Center AF point and the * button as start AF with selected AF point, this way I can quickly move between the selected AF point which usually is one of the edge to the center without moving the selected AF point

Some good explanations and settings from this site. Mostly pertain to wedding shooters but everyone can use it. :)

nope. I was just being stupid. There is iso range and auto iso range. I was reading the wrong range AND shooting in low light. So when it capped out at 12,800 I thought there was a problem, but that is just the auto iso range limitation.

A lot of useful suggestions in this thread. I will have to check some out when I get my Mark III. Hope they start up on shipping them again, soon.

Just thinking here.... Have yet to set anything.

C1 (Portrait Mode)
Av Mode
Widest aperture setting. (Set it with 50 1.2 to 1.2 and should default to lowest for each lens)
ISO 100
Min shutter 1/30th
Auto WB (this one is iffy)
Evaluative Metering
Raw + Large jpg
Single Shot - Single Point Spot AF
Silent Shutter

C2 Sports.... Similar to Portrait
Av Mode
Widest Aperture
WB=Sunny or Shade
AF would be Servo with Zone
Min shutter 1/250
ISO 1000
Raw + L Jpg
High Speed Continuous

C3 (Video)
Manual
f/5.6
24p 1080
1/50th shutter speed
ISO 160
Picture Profile = Sharpness 0, Contrast 0, Saturation -2, Color Tone +/- 0
WB = Kelvin 5000

5D III / RC-6 remote
Trouble solving this...

I'm trying to fire a bracket series (5 images, +/- 1 stop), using a RC-6 remote. The remote currently fires the whole bracket, with one click, in a rapid fire. I need a couple seconds between shots for strobes and camera shake to settle. I would like to shoot the brackets, one click at a time, using the remote.

Can anyone solve this?
