As the title says, I am looking for a wide angle, or ultra wide angle lens to use with my 1D3/1D4. I'm not sure what is compatible, but I did have a Canon 10-22 that I used on my old 7D, and it was the sharpest lens I've ever had, and I know I can't use that on the bodies I have. Hopefully not expensive, since it won't really be a full time lens, but nice to have, if that makes sense... Plus, I have a 24-70, so I'd like it to be shorter than that. Not sure if there is a 10-22 equivalent for what I can use.

Thanks for all help.

16-35 is the 10-22 equivalent. aps-h can't use efs, only ef....but it's still a crop so you lose width.

Yea, I knew I couldn't use EF-S lenses... :)

Thanks for the suggestion, will check that one out.

The Tokina 11-16 might be your best bet.

you could just do this if you want to use the 10-22mm:

if you're worried about the mount hitting the camera then you can get a third party lens...the sigma 10-20mm is a cheaper alternative if you don't want to spend the $$

Don't want to do any mods, and yea, I'm worried about things getting hit..

And I don't want to spend too much since it won't be an "every day" lens.

Thanks for the recommendations!

Heard a lot of good about that lens, not sure about MF, but thinking about it.

manual focus at that focal length is extremely forgiving... Even 2.8 has a very wide depth of field. Might want to give the Sigma 14mm 2.8 a go

My eyesight isn't what it used to be, but tempted to try. I will look into the Sigma too. Awesome suggestions, thanks!

Just looked up this lens on B&H. Says it will NOT work with a camera with a sensor bigger than APS-C. So seems it won't work with a 1D3/4. Or does it? Confused...

it'll vignette at the wider focal lengths...but it'll work towards the longer end...

Oh, ok. I thought that even mounting it would cause mirror issues and such, kinda like putting an EF-S lens on a full-frame.

Thanks for the info!

The lens will vignette for 1.5mm on the wide end, but you can use the rest of the range, it works great.

I've used the OM 16 fisheye and TS-E 17/4L on my 1D4. Both work very well. The TS-E is particularly useful because you can make instant panoramas with the lens moving either left-right or up--down relative to the sensor axis.

There's also the Zeiss ZE 15/2.8 but at ~$3k, that's riding in the Leica price bracket. If memory serves, it will be available in May.

Manual focus is a breeze, particularly if you install one of the split prism screens. Even better, install a Zacuto ZRF frame and use a Zacuto Z-finder loupe with live view.

Several cameras and more glass than I will admit to.
