Hey Everyone,

I recently had the oppurtunity to see the President when he came to Anchorage, Alaska. I never thought I would get as close as I got. Check out the pic and tell me what you think. The only thing I wish I would have done better was not cut off his head

Neat opportunity and nice capture under the conditions, which were far from ideal I bet.

I like this, its possibly the first photo Iv seen of the man (living as I do in another country, where he's not very popular) that makes him look good. (no need to discuss that further).

I can only imagine what sort of conditions you were shooting under, rushed, crushed, and surounded by security?

Should've hugged him, took a pic of you together and hanged it on the wall. ;)

Once you managed to get so close, I would have tried to ask (yelling, of course...). At the worst, you will get no answer or a NO! from the SS folks, but you never know how VIP reacts. It can happen. It happened in the past (I have a friend that got his picture with Pope John Paul II in this way) and can happen again.

Nice pic, very PJ style and an the same time he looks good.

Somehow, the cutoff head "makes" the pic. It gives the feeling of the conditions the pic was taken. Sure, a full head would have been better but... would it have been the same picture with the same feeeling ? I don't know.

Hey well I did have a chance to shake his hand but I thought to myself do I want a picture which will last forever or shake his hand and most likely get a crappy photo if one at all.

As far as the shot goes, looks like a goof PJ type of shot! It's always amazing that the general public can get this close to a VIP with obvious photo-gear!! Good capture!

Let me think.hmmmm there may be those in the world that think you were on the right track !:D ;) :D Just kidding, just kidding...no political statements....
Great shot especially considering the time you must have had to compose it! You really caught him at a good moment of expression...it must have been exciting !

Great shot!! A shame your post was followed by the inappropriate comments. I agree the cut off adds to the sence of photo-journalistic look.I like it a lot. Thanks for sharing.

Neat! I took this picture of his dad about a month ago when he flew into the airport where I work. Problem was he taxied to a hanger on the other side of the airport. I had to use the 100-400L because he was .62 miles away!

I have a similar photo of Ike that I took at an Army/Navy game. I know he is in the crowd because the announcer said so....
