My first major trip with my new T3i. Everything was shot with an 18-135mm and handheld. They don't seem to pop like others on here. I did do some post-processing (which I am also new at). Let me know what you think.

135mm is a tricky focal length for a zoo (I normally end up shooting everything at 400mm) so good job there.

I'm pretty straight with this so don't take it personally :)

#2 - Best to avoid any photos of animals mid yawn (unless it looks like a growl) or mid TONGUE lick! It just looks awkward and like you haven't waited.

#3 - Huge distracting fence in the middle of the animal! IF you can't avoid it, then you just have to walk away because no one really wants to see it in the middle of an animal.

#4 I think this is the best - nice pose. Just missing a bit of thought when it comes to composition. I would have had him to the left of the shot so he's looking into some space. More interesting.

#5 - Good pose to catch, but the lighting was not in your favour so you got cage glare.

#6 - Orangutan is too close to the fence, I'd just avoid this altogether.

My zoo photos are at http://durberville.redbubble.com/works (external link) and I'm happy to answer any questions :)
