So basically I have a minor issue. I upgraded to a 5D3 but I am still using older software (LR2 and CS4). My laptop's cd drive is giving me issues so I am unable to install the default software from Canon (included with my camera). What kind of options do I have?

I have looked into installing Camera RAW 6.7 but does that work with CS4? I says it need to update Application Manger 2 when I try to install it but Adobe Manager 2 seems to be only compatible with CS5.

Can anyone help me? Thanks!

You have to convert your files to Adobe DNG (external link)
Not sure if it will work with the new mkIII files but give it a try.
Otherwise you need to update to CS6 and LR4 (not supporting mkIII yet)

Absolutely understand the conversion. The problem seems to be the plugin for the converter (Camera RAW 6.7) seems to be only supported by the newer PS/LR software. Technically speaking, I guess I'll have to update sooner or less so maybe I should update now but just curious if there are other options.

I think you may be sol at the moment. The link to the DNG by Helge doesn't support the 5D MkIII and CS4 cannot use the ACR 6.7. ACR6.7 is still a Release Candidate and once it is issued their "should" be the DNG converter to go along with it that will support the 5D MkIII.

You could download CS6 Beta or LR4 Trial.

Get the use of another computer and transfer the DPP installer from the disc to a CF card or SD or usb stick or something.

True that! If his laptop CD player isn't functioning, then he's pretty much screwed when it comes to the Raw files unless he can use another computer to copy the disc onto another medium and do the install from there.
