Do you think that a refurb would be better to buy versus used?

Canon refurbs have an excellent reputation -- they have been thoroughly gone over.

I would consider refurb as least as good as new except the warranty. New comes off the factory floor with little QC, refurb has been checked over at least.

i think refurb might still be better depending on which 5D you find. Most used 5D dont have warranty at all with a few thousand clicks.

Refurb is almost new and 90 day warranty.

But i really hate you for showing the extra discount outbw!. i am tempted as i am in the same boat as you looking for 5d II . used prices are hovering 1600 dollars . But there are deals for new 5d m2 for 1800 so its tough.

Now i need to debate if i want one

I was about to buy one tomorrow for 1800 w/ third party grip and the high precision focusing screen.....

now this is making me think a little bit...

Edit: 9000 clicks too... do refurbs usually have a shutter count or do they wipe them?

I figure that it is better that all of us here on POTN know about it first before other random consumers buy the 5Dii's out first :p

@chumlee they don't wipe the shutter count so its the real count. If you use clp I think the price goes down to around 1450? Not sure if it is in the program.

I got my order in $1511 shipped. Was looking at the 5d3, but this was too good and can hold me over until the 5d3 prices come down.

Wow, insane price! $1569.25 shipped to Washington DC! This is definitely better than used products despite how good the sellers feedback is. Plus this has a 90 day warranty. Win win situation.

Sold my 7D in December 2011 for 5DII refurb ($1699). So far I have sent it back for service 4 times. If you get good one it is a good deal. I was getting a large amount of spots in my pictures from dead pixels during long exposures. They replaced the sensor and images ended up getting even worse with weird grid pattern occurring when viewing images at 100%. If have lost faith in Canon repair center in Newport News, VA. I am now working with canon customer relations to resolve the issue. My advice is to check the camera thoroughly when you get it. I would have loved to return camera but Canon ran out of refurbs in December.
