Coming from that 1DS is saying something. Thats far from a slouch in the FF arena.

It is becoming impossible for me to consider updates without selling something. The money doesnt matter as much as my wife's perception of gear piles.

Own both 5d3 and a 1d4. The af on the 5d is every bit as good as the 1d if not better. Iq to me is a little better and high iso noise. Based on your description of your shooting style, I would get the 5d.
