5D3 outer Af point shot

Just shot an engagement session and used the 5D3. Went great other then My PW's Flex/TT5's not working with it.

But the outer Af points worked great on my macro ring shot. I would always have to use my MKIV on my ring shots for the better Af but the 5D3 nailed this shot using the outer Af point.

Wow !! Sexy.
I am an amateur taking only pics of the family and I am having a serious itch to get this camera.

i don't know.. to me the DOF is just a little bit too thin. I would have preferred to have the whole ring in focus. I find the photo hurts my eyes.

but we are talking about the AF, and the 5D3 does do a wonderful job at getting it right.

Plus that's not a macro shot.... it's close-up... just a pet peeve of mine Cool shot though...

I love the shot ,Why weren't your PW's working with the 5 D MK III

Static objects are quite easy, even my 5D can do it - the real issue is people on outer points!

PW need to update the firmware to be compatable with the 5D3. They were blowing out every picture...

It's macro to me...yeah maybe not a true macro but it is what it is...

You better check your flash on another body. PW Flex might have blown up your flash. Just saying..

You could do the same using the centre AF point focus and recompose, but this is a much more elegant way of doing it

Would you mind putting up a 100% crop of the ring?

There is plenty of contrast for the 5D2 outer AF point to lock focus on that ring. Its low light moving objects that are going to be the big winner for the 5D3 AF system.

I disagree. I don't think a 5D2 would have the slightest problem with an outer focus point on that ring.
