I don't think it's as much being asked what you are doing, as it was being followed afterwards.

I'm sure the NSA is now tapping his internet connection, reading his e-mail and text messages
and echelon is listening to his house, work and cell calls, and they have tapped into his bluetooth
headset to listen to his conversations. And they are using the Onstar in his truck to track him.
And next time he flies, he will get the special rubber glove treatment :-P

Or, you could find the airport cop shop, take them a nice print or two and properly introduce yourself...

Maybe, you could even ask them about starting a proper airport watch group?

Good ideas.

Whenever I go to private property in a relatively public venue to shoot, I go directly to security, first.

I didn't know they had airport watch groups.

Thanks every one for the input. To answer some of the questions. I don't think they know about Yorkshire pud and I am not going to tell them, I'm mean I keep the good stuff to myself :D. I am going down to the Coast Guard station this morning with a few phots for them including a couple of 13x19.
I don't mind being followed or checked out I have nothing to hide except perhaps minor traffic violations and I don't think they would be interested in them. In this day and age security is necessary and for the good of the whole. The way I look at it we ended it on friendly terms with them saying thank you for your cooperation. I am now on speaking terms with local law enforcement and any future incidents will be looked at as it's just that crazy English photog again, he is harmless.
Monty I have to agree with you, for a minor inconvenience I think I gained a lot
I will post a couple of pics this evening.

I took some of the photos to the CG station and could not make it past the main gate so I left them with the gate guard with my contact information, no word back

They need to add a little Thumbs Up button to click when you like a photo. Great shots.
Would have been fun to watch take off and snap a few photos of too. Maybe next time
you can find a bunch of photographers to all go at once, and make up a banner saying
POTN Avaiation Photography Group, so you wouldn't frighten men, women and small
children. And people won't call the sheriff on you.

Regarless, thanks for sharing the photos!!

I like that idea but you know what would happen, they would buy the land and put a fence around it.

Every time I go out to Vancouver, BC there are always a half dozen people parked at the end of the
runway across the road from the airport. Some with Cameras, some thing Binoculars, and some just
sitting in Lawn Chairs watching the planes land and take off. They have been doing it for the last 20
years and nobody has fenced off the area that I know of. Even for the Winter Olympics.
