Problems:
1) I can't read anything in the watermark (well, I can sort of make out 2012).
2) Suppose this image is floating around and I find it and want to hire the photographer who took the photo. There is no way I could find your website with this watermark.
3) 'logo' is not really distinct enough from copyright symbol--not something that I think would be great for branding purposes.

I agree on all points made

I would also not date my watermark.. seriously what is the point?

Date below or above or if that don't work for the overall aesthetics don't date at all and for this type of logo date does not fit with the aesthetics. Copy mark and logo should be separate entities even when in the same generic stamp.. Nobody puts copy marks inside a logo period the only mark ever seen is TM or R which is tied to the actual brand or logo. Otherwise when you use your logo on a business card or some other material it would seriously make you look amateur.

I have developed ads for some very big content investors should we say and what i learned is simplicity is key with branding. Stick with something simple, legible and which serves a purpose of branding your mark and nothing more. Use your copyright along side your mark for copy protection if you really feel the need to do so. These days it's far to easy for someone with skills to clone or crop your copyright anyway so i'd focus solely on the branding aspect. Trying to prevent anyone from sharing or distributing your images is surely taking away free advertising considering they already contain your mark.

just my 2 cents. :)

Agreed. It looks more like a stamp than a watermark. A watermark is something that is see through. Technically a watermark is something designed into paper that can only be seen when viewed at certain angles like the watermark in U.S. paper money.
